The Akron Children’s Museum actively works to ensure access for ALL children, regardless of caregivers income/ability to pay, and regardless of any developmental or physical disability.

Museums for All LogoMuseums for All: Summit County museums, including ACM, and attractions offer discounted admission prices for low-income families. Any guest who presents their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) card upon arrival will be given an admission price of $1 to $3. This nationally recognized program is an effort to encourage those who may have an interest but not the means to make these destinations part of their everyday lives.

Participating locations include:

  • Akron Art Museum
  • Akron Children's Museum
  • Akron Zoo
  • Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens
  • Summit County Historical Society

ACM works with the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board (Summit DD) and exhibit designers to ensure that young visitors are included in all of the fun! Elements such as exhibit height, wheelchair accessibility, and multisensory components are incorporated. Annual “Play for All” days feature special activities for children with disabilities and their families. (Check our calendar or call us for the next schedule day.)

The All-Access Kids Fund supports reduced or free admission for families or groups needing a little assistance. Special contributions and business sponsorships support the fund’s growth. ACM works with area youth serving organizations, including child care centers and public schools, to extend these opportunities to those in greatest need.

Akron Children’s Museum is proud to partner with local agencies, such as the University of Akron’s Inclusioneers, to help spread awareness of inclusion and the importance of providing every person, of every ability, the opportunity to fully engage, contribute, and participate in their community. In addition, we have partnered with KultureCity to improve our ability to assist anyone with sensory sensitivites. We have Sensory Bags located at the front desk of the museum for anyone that wishes to check them out. The Sensory Bags include headphones, weighted lap pads, and calming sensory materials.

See our social stories below that will assist with planning your trips to the museum.
